Casco Senior Care Program
Casco Township Seniors (age 60+) and persons who care about seniors are invited to call our Casco Senior Care Program Staff and find out about available programs and services. The Program Director is Susan Katt, 269-906-5982. The Outreach Coordinator is Rachel Brenner, 269-214-2350.
The Casco Senior Care Program welcomes Vikke Andersen to the Casco Senior Care Program staff as a consultant. Vikke will be available to provide residents with assistance regarding Medicare and other programs. If you have questions about your Medicare plan, please call 906-5982 to reach the Casco Senior Care Program.
Susan Katt and Rachel Brenner continue to offer an array of programs to Casco Township seniors, including home visits, exercise, crafts, educational programs, and the Casco Senior Luncheon. All are welcome to an afternoon of cards each Tuesday from 1 to 3 pm at the Casco Township Hall, organized by Ellen Appelhans.
Casco Township also offers rides to seniors through a County-funded transportation program. If you are a senior in need of a ride to a doctor’s appointment or similar engagement, please contact Susan Katt at 906-5982 a few days ahead of your appointment, and a ride will be provided at no charge to you.

The Casco Senior Care Program is funded by a .25 millage renewed in November 2009 for an additional five years. Currently, programs use space at both the Casco United Methodist Church (on 66th just south of 109th Avenue) and the Casco Township Hall (corner of 107th & 71st Street).
Current services include transportation (free!) in private cars to medical or other necessary appointments, commodities, referrals to County-based resources, home visits, social programs, educational workshops, free tax assistance, information on medicare, and care-giving support.

Special Workshop: Thursday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. "Managing Diabetes." Representatives from Grand Rapids Home Health Care will be leading a luncheon/workshop on the topic of home health care and diabetes. Program takes place at the Casco United Methodist Church. Call 906-5982 for info.

Casco Seniors Exercise Class,
followed by coffee at 10:45 a.m.
These classes, attended by men and women, are for balance and strength. Led by Athletic Trainer Susan Katt, the rigor of the class is nicely balanced by the fellowship over coffee when exercise concludes (10:45 a.m.). Currently held at the Casco United Methodist Church at the corner of 109th Avenue and 66th Street.
Wednesdays, 10:30 to 12 noon
Craft Class
This craft class currently meets at the Casco United Methodist Church. The craft changes regularly and the output is creative, amazing, and all supplies are provided. Call Susan (906-5982) for details about the latest endeavor.

Senior Cards and Games Social
Board games, card games, puzzles...organized around card tables in the Casco Township Hall. Newcomers are welcome and you'll be taught how to play the array of games. Ellen Appelhans organizes this group of "regulars" and guests alike, and the coffee pot is always on with goodies, too.
